Open RPG Worlds Submission Guidelines

Open RPG Worlds’ goal is to provide the roleplaying game community with quality products that are applicable to any genre or game system. Below are guidelines you should follow when submitting items for publication on our website. There are two categories for submissions: Open RPG Worlds, and Open RPG Rules. The Open RPG Worlds category is reserved for scenarios, plot hooks, world descriptions, settings, campaign ideas, and general fiction. The Open RPG Rules section is reserved for rules and rule modifications. For more details on Submitting to Open RPG Rules visit this link.

  1. All submissions must adhere to and follow the guidelines as described in the GNU Free Documentation License (click here to view the license).
    1. Submissions must include a copy of the License. If you do not include one with your submission it will be added.
    2. Submissions must include a copyright notice as detailed in the license.
    3. You must be willing to allow your work to be freely modified and distributed as per the license.
  2. The work you submit must be your own and be an original work to which you own the copyright.
  3. Give use an idea of what genre you would like the item to fall under. For example, horror, sci-fi, fantasy, etc.
  4. Include a brief (30 words or less) summary or description of your work. This may be used to describe your submission on our website.
  5. All submissions must be in either RTF (Rich Text Format) or Plain Ascii Text (Txt). Submissions may be made in PDF or HTML formats as well, but must also include a submission in one of the Transparent formats mentioned above.
  6. All submissions must include your name, and contact information (email address at the very least).
  7. Because Open RPG Worlds strives to be generic, your submission cannot use game-specific rules (unless you are using Open RPG Rules or a currently available Modification of these rules). Therefore, you are encouraged to use descriptive language that can be easily translated from one game system to another. For example, instead of stating that Joe Swashbuckler has a Sword skill of 25 and has a +4 modifier to hit using his magic sword, you should state: “Joe Swashbuckler is a master swordsman. His magic sword allows him a superior chance to hit any target.”
  8. No payment of any kind is made for submissions to this website.
  9. Submissions should be sent to: OpenRPGWorlds@yahoo.com with “WORLDS SUBMISSION” in the subject line
